Please review our site!
I'd appreciate reviews of my site lads. It's a pub in Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan. I wrote it myself using wordpress so it's a bit amateur, but I hope I'm at least raising the profile of the place a bit. I take all the photos myself as a hobby (it gets me out of the house). My aim is to let people know what's on in the pub, give some information about things to do in the area and I have some space which I intend to convert into six bedrooms over the next year or two and I want to have a base of customers to pitch to. I get about 500 visitors a month according to google analytics. I welcome your opinions and I promise not to be upset if you all say it's rubbish. I'll try to use your suggestions to improve it. Thanks

I have just had a look at the site and my first impression is that it seems pretty good so well done.
The website loads very quickly for me and it is easy to find your way around.
But for the front page, definitely something more eye catching / welcoming.
Cheers,

When I think about it, that's true. Maybe some more photos of the inside or something on the frontpage? What in gods name are you doing reviewing websites at half six on a bank holiday Monday morning you big ol insomniac ya?

Change home page focus
Nothing at fault with your initiative, it's great and it's on the money.
One small bit of advice would be to get rid of the home page (make this your "About Us" page) and launch straight into your blog. Add more local features, make up some history (of interest to tourists), talk about music and food, make the casual tourist want to check out your establishment. Finally add pages for Menu, Parties, Music, Local tourist attractions. (all the things tourists search for... long tail marketing) and you will get more traffic (both kinds)

Feedback
Hi Gerard -
The site looks great - nice and simple is good. Here's some constructive criticism:
- You mention that you're opening up some rooms within a year. Why not add a page with more information about this, so that punters keep you in mind when those are ready? (The progress you can report on your blog...)
- I think the "Visitors" page is a bit confusingly labelled, can you call it "Tourist Info" or something like that instead? I would break up all that grate information with some bold headers and photos to make it easier to read and digest.
- Along those lines, Jeremiah is spot on; you have room to expand with a few more targeted pages with additional local info. Give visitors a reason to stick around and come back for me.
- LOVE the pub crawl page. Fantastic.
- Have you considered using the site for a bit of marketing? You can offer some print-out coupons only good for days of the week normally quiet or to highlight new specials. It's an easy-to-implement, low-risk way to try to raise interest in the site.
- I'm just going to throw this one out there, but can you get beer coasters made with your URL on it? I know a lot of times these are provided by the distributor...but perhaps this will inspire another idea?
Good luck!

Thanks
Thanks very much to all of you who've taken the time to have a look, and give advice. Some good ones there I think and I'll bear them in mind. It seems to boil down to more pictures and giveaways....
I'll return the love by saying what I think about some of the other sites listed. Thanks again
Gerard

Hi, I see you got lots of comments so I won't repeat them - but one thing i think you should have a is a picture of the pub ... but perhaps I didn't rummage about long enough to find it ... but it should be upfront there somewhere!
